That's assuming that you have written word needs, of course. The thing is, we can't all be good at everything, can we? I mean, I can't catch anything, or fix mechanical stuff, or design a website, or do math. Surely there are some of you for whom writing is not your forte. Allow me to help you out. For a modest fee, that is.
I should probably point out here that I am capable of writing things in a much less conversational and, let's face it, verbose manner than I do over at Superfantastic.Writing in my previous jobs has included ad and website copy, marketing letters, brochures, policies and procedures, presentations, educational and training materials, and newsletters. Supervisors have praised me for my ability to communicate sometimes complex information clearly and effectively for the target audience, all with outstanding grammar, of course. I have also done quite a bit of editing and proofreading, including the above mentioned forms of written communication, as well as business plans, legal contracts, and technical documents.
All of that said, here are some of the things I offer at reasonable rates:
Resumes
I love writing resumes. Really, I do. The necessary economy of language makes it precise work, demanding that each word chosen be exactly the right word. I can do this for you.
Lots of people have gotten jobs using resumes written by me. I have been doing these for family and friends for years, with excellent reviews. This includes people switching careers, who were able to get jobs in a new area, thanks to a resume that highlights how skills from their former career translate to the new one.
What with the economy being in the shitter right now, if you're looking for a job at the moment, you need a resume that's well above average. I don't use templates, so your resume won't look like all of the other ones in the pile, and the perfect grammar will save you from an early shredding. Add a clear articulation of the skills and experience that you bring to the table, and you've got yourself an interview.
People charge a lot of money to write resumes. A LOT. I checked. I charge much less than most people. So there's that, too.
I can also write cover letters for an additional fee, either a stock letter that you can customize yourself or letters written for specific employers or job postings.
Online Dating Profiles
This may sound silly, but hey, if you're paying for the opportunity to meet people, why not pay a little more to have a polished profile that will attract the kind of people you want? Much like with cover letters, it can be hard to sell yourself. It is, on the other hand, easy for me to do it for you.
Website Copy
Whether for personal or business sites, get copy that gets you attention and conveys your message in a tone appropriate to your desired audience.
Marketing Materials
I have personally taken a red pen to a brochure that was dropped off where I worked. It was for a restaurant owned by friends of a co-worker of mine and she passed my corrected copy along to them. Of course, most of your potential customers probably aren't as geeky as me, but if your marketing materials look unprofessional, then so do you and your business. I can explain to potential customers not only what you offer, but also what sets you apart from your competition, and I can do it in the space of an ad, a brochure, a letter, or a press release.
The Funny
Got something that needs some humor? I would be only too happy to write the funny on your behalf.
Pretty Much Whatever Else You Need
The above-listed comprise only a fraction of the writing that I've done personally and professionally and they certainly don't cover everything that you might need. If you want something written that's not listed here, just email me and ask. Chances are, I can do it for you.
Editing and Proofreading
For even less money than writing stuff for you, I can provide editing and proofreading of stuff you've already written. This can be a simple check for grammar and clarity or a complete overhaul, depending on what is needed.
I think that pretty well covers it
